China Camp Death Being Investigated as Homicide

This morning around 0800 hours, our Communications Center received a call of a possible medical emergency in the area of Miwok Meadows, 1400 N. San Pedro Road in San Rafael. Sheriff's Deputies responded to the scene and located a deceased subject off the roadway. 

This area falls under the jurisdiction of California State Parks, who has asked the Marin County Sheriff's Office to assume the role of lead investigating agency surrounding the death. At this time, Marin County Sheriff's Office Detectives are investigating the scene with assistance from the California Highway Patrol Multidisciplinary Accident Investigations Team (M.A.I.T).

This is now being investigated as a homicide. Our unidentified victim is a Hispanic male adult, approximately twenty to thirty years of age, between 5'8" and 6'0" tall and weighing between 140 to 160 lbs.

We are asking that anyone that may have been in the area of China Camp overnight or that may have any information related to this crime to please contact our Investigations Division at (415) 473-7265. In addition, any residents living on N. San Pedro Road or Pt. San Pedro Road with surveillance cameras, facing the main roadways, please contact us.
