A Patrol Deputy on routine patrol, observed a subject standing outside a vehicle stopped at a red light. The driver’s side door was open, and a male subject was dancing around his vehicle acting erratically. The Deputy recognized the subject from previous contacts as a mental health subject. Fearing that the subject may be in need of psychiatric help and in no condition to operate a motor vehicle, the Deputy attempted to contact the subject outside his vehicle. Upon seeing the Deputy move in, the subject entered into the vehicle and drove off. The Deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle, and the driver failed to yield. A vehicle pursuit ensued, which was eventually called off due to safety precautions. The vehicle and driver were seen a short time later, exiting the vehicle. When the driver saw law enforcement, he ran inside a building. The subject entered into an office where he refused to follow Deputies’ commands. One Deputy removed his Taser, and pointed the laser at the subject. The subject was eventually taken into custody without being exposed to the effects of the CEW.

  • Case: 15-7589
  • Video: Yes
  • Injuries: None
  • Offense: 422 PC Terrorist Threats 148 PC Resisting Arrest

A male subject was booked into the Marin County Jail by the CHP for making terrorist threats and resisting arrest. The subject was uncooperative with Jail staff. Due to his level of uncooperativeness, he became a threat to the safety of himself and Jail staff and it was determined that he would be placed inside a Safety Cell. The subject physically resisted Deputies’ attempts to get him into the Safety Cell. The subject was large in stature relative to the Deputies and his behavior was creating a hazardous situation. The Booking Sergeant retrieved a Taser and brought it to the Safety Cell. He drew the CEW and turned it on, pointing the Laser on the ground near the resisting subject. The display of the Taser earned the subject’s cooperation and he was placed inside the Safety Cell without further incident.
