The decedent has been positively identified but his identity is being withheld pending next of kin notification.  The subject was a 59-year-old male reportedly from the San Rafael area with no fixed residence address.

On Sunday, January 22, 2023, at approximately 10:46 AM a lifeless body was discovered within storm debris of the Corte Madera Creek waters near a building fronting 1251 S. Eliseo Drive, in Greenbrae. A passing rower / crew member traversing the area made the initial discovery and reported her findings to 9-1-1.  First Responders were immediately dispatched to the area and located the remains in the waterway.  The subject was pulled to a dock at the base of the Bon Air Bridge where death was pronounced without any resuscitative aid provided as physiologic signs of death were noted.  Preliminary investigation suggests the subject was exposed to the elements and submerged for a prolonged time period.  No overt signs of foul play were noted upon the remains.

The decedent has been positively identified but his identity is being withheld pending next of kin notification.  The subject was a 59-year-old male reportedly from the San Rafael area with no fixed residence address.

A forensic postmortem forensic examination with toxicology testing is scheduled for later this week.  The cause and manner of death will be pending the conclusion of the investigations being completed by the Central Marin Police Authority and the Marin County Sheriff’s Office - Coroner Division.  No further information will be released by the Coroner Division at this time, as this is an active and ongoing investigation.  Any further questions regarding the incident should be directed to the Central Marin Police Authority.
