Detectives seeking witnesses after shots fired in Marin City

Arrested: Jonathan Melvin Poole, a 23 year old resident of Suisun, CA.

On February 6th, 2023 just after 6PM, our 911 Communications Center received several calls from citizens reporting multiple gun shots being heard in the 200 block of Drake Avenue in Marin City. Deputies arrived shortly after the initial 911 calls and multiple citizens pointed to a silver sedan leaving a parking lot stating the vehicle was involved in the shooting. A Deputy attempted to stop the vehicle, but the vehicle did not yield.

The Deputy, believing the person in the vehicle was associated with the shooting, pursued the vehicle South on Highway 101. For the next twenty two minutes, Deputies and Officers from the California Highway Patrol pursued the vehicle into San Francisco and then back north on Highway 101 into San Rafael. During the pursuit the driver drove evasively and at excessive speeds in an attempt to evade capture. The vehicle came to stopped traffic on the Richmond San Rafael Bridge and collided with multiple vehicles causing the vehicle to become inoperable. The driver of a vehicle the suspect collided with at the conclusion of the pursuit suffered minor injuries and was released at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle, Jonathan Melvin Poole, a 23 year old resident of Suisun was taken into custody. An adult passenger in the suspect vehicle and a 10 year old child were unharmed and released at the scene after being interviewed.

Detectives from the Investigations Division responded to assist in the investigation. Multiple shell casings of different calibers were located at the scene where the shooting took place. At the time of this press release no victims associated with the shooting have come forward. Poole was not arrested in connection with the shooting while the investigation continues.
