Highway 101 Bicyclist Struck by Vehicles in Corte Madera - Identity Released

The decedent has been positively identified as:

Anthony LETIGRE, a 42-year-old male from Greenbrae, CA 

On Saturday evening, January 19, 2019, at approximately 7:30 PM, it was reported to 9-1-1 a subject later confirmed to be Mr. Letigre, for unknown reasons, was observed riding a bicycle across the travel lanes on southbound Highway 101, into the path of traffic moving at highway speeds, near the Madera Boulevard exit ramp in Corte Madera.  Unfortunately he was struck by multiple vehicles, which immediately yielded and remained at the scene.  Paramedics were summoned to the scene and discovered Mr. Letigre unresponsive having sustained multiple traumatic injuries.  Overt physiologic signs of death were present and his death was pronounced on the scene without resuscitative medical provided.

A forensic post mortem examination and toxicology testing have been scheduled for later this week.  The cause and manner of death will be pending the conclusion of the investigation being completed by the California Highway Patrol-Marin Office and the Marin County Sheriff’s Office-Coroner Division.  No further information will be released by the Coroner Division at this time, as this is an active and ongoing investigation.  Any further questions regarding the incident should be directed to the California Highway Patrol-Marin Office.
