Identity of San Anselmo swimming pool incident released

A single person was involved in a swimming pool incident in San Anselmo on 6/19/17. This person was identified by the Coroner Division as Alexia Y. Fernandez, a 26-year-old female resident of Richmond, CA.

On June 19, 2017 at approximately 1620 hours, a 911 call was received reporting a possible drowning in an apartment swimming pool on the 600 block of Red Hill Avenue in San Anselmo.  Responding emergency personnel with the Ross Valley Fire Department and Central Marin Police Authority arrived and found a single person in need of medical attention.  This individual was emergently transported to a local hospital for further care.  Unfortunately, this person succumbed to her injuries and passed away on June 20, 2017.   

The decedent has been identified as follows:

Alexia Y. FERNANDEZ, 26-years-old, resident of Richmond, CA.

There is no evidence suggestive of foul play.

A post mortem examination and toxicology testing have been scheduled. The cause and manner of death will be pending toxicology results and the conclusion of the investigation by the Marin County Sheriff’s Office – Coroner Division, and the Central Marin Police Authority. No further information will be released by the Coroner Division at this time, as this in active investigation. Any further questions regarding the incident should be directed to the Central Marin Police Authority: PIO Margo Rohrbacher / margor@centralmarinpolice.org
