Lucas Valley – Marinwood Motor Vehicle Collision Fatality - Identity Released

The decedent has been positively identified as:                                                                           

Melvin “Scott” LOCKARD, a 64-year-old male from Kentfield, CA.

On Saturday June 26, 2021 at approximately 4:30 PM the subject reportedly was riding a Vespa motorized scooter east bound on Lucas Valley Road near the Jerry Russom Memorial Park at Sequeira Road when a deer emerged from the side of the roadway, ran into and broadsided the subject on his in-motion scooter, ejecting him to the roadway shoulder.   The collision knocked the subject unconscious and unresponsive.  9-1-1 was contacted and Emergency Service personnel were immediately dispatched to the scene.  Upon their arrival, paramedics discovered the subject in cardiopulmonary arrest.  Despite providing extensive resuscitative efforts the subject failed to respond, and his death was pronounced on the scene.

 A forensic post mortem examination with toxicology testing is scheduled for later this week.  The cause and manner of death will be pending the conclusion of the investigations being completed by the California Highway Patrol, Marin Office and the Marin County Sheriff’s Office - Coroner Division.  No further information will be released by the Coroner Division at this time, as this is an active and ongoing investigation.  Any further questions regarding the incident should be directed to the California Highway Patrol, Marin Office
