​ Marin City Homicide – Victim Identity Released – Person of Interest Identified

The decedent has been positively identified as:

Michael Arthur ROGERS II, a 42-year-old male from Oakland, CA.

On Sunday July 24, 2022, at approximately 10:06 AM, multiple 9-1-1 calls were received reporting rapid gunfire in the area of Cole Drive and Drake Avenue in Marin City. The first Deputy arrived approximately 30 seconds after the initial call was dispatched. Upon arrival, the Deputy located a male and female near a silver sedan injured. The male was suffering from an unknown number of gunshots and removed from the vehicle by the Deputy. Life saving measures were attempted and the male was transported to an area hospital by fire personnel where he succumbed to his injuries. The female in the vehicle sustained non-life threatening injuries, was transported to a local hospital and later released.  A firearm was recovered from the scene.

A third person injured in the shooting showed up at an area hospital suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The involvement of this person is still unknown at this time. 

During the Investigation. Detectives were able to identify a person of interest in the homicide.

No further information will be released at this time regarding the investigation. 

A forensic postmortem examination with toxicology testing has been scheduled for Mr. Rogers this week. The cause and manner of death will be pending the conclusion of the investigations being completed by the Marin County Sheriff’s Office and the Marin County Sheriff’s Office – Coroner Division. 

The Marin County Sheriff’s Office and personnel of the Coroner Division offer our sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Rogers.
