MCSO Weighs in with DEA National Prescription Drug Take Back Program

On Saturday, October 22, the Marin County Sheriff’s Office participated in the Drug Enforcement Administration's (DEA) 12th National Prescription Drug Take Back Day event. This event is an opportunity for the community to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs.

Today, citizens had the chance to bring pills for disposal to either the Marinwood Fire Station (775 Miller Creek Rd., San Rafael) or the Marin City Public Safety Building (850 Drake Ave., Marin City).  The event proved to be a huge success as deputies collected an estimated 143 pounds! This is compared to the estimated 39 pounds previously collected in April.  We would like to thank the Marin Community for coming together to participate in such an important initiative for public health and safety.

For more information about the disposal of prescription drugs or about future Take Back Day events, go to the DEA Diversion website or www.Marinsheriff.org.
