North Avenue San Rafael Homicide Victim - Identity Released

The decedent has been positively identified as:                                                                           

David NUNEZ-SANCHEZ, a 42-year-old male from Pittsburg, CA

On Tuesday May 12, 2021, in the morning hours, the San Rafael Police Department was dispatched to an apartment complex located near North Avenue to assist in a search for the subject, who, had been reported missing by his family after not returning home from work on May 11, 2021 as expected.  The subject, a supervisor for a landscaping business contracted to maintain the property-grounds of an apartment community complex was eventually located after an area search was completed by officers.  The subject was discovered unresponsive and unconscious with physiological signs of death being present.  First Responders were immediately summoned to the scene, arriving shortly after and declared the subject deceased without providing resuscitative aid.  Foul play was suspected in the subject’s death due to indicia noted on the scene.

 A forensic post mortem examination with toxicology testing is scheduled for Friday, May 14, 2021.  The cause and manner of death will be pending the conclusion of the investigations being completed by the San Rafael Police Department and the Marin County Sheriff’s Office - Coroner Division.  No further information will be released by the Coroner Division at this time, as this is an active and ongoing investigation.  Any further questions regarding the incident should be directed to the San Rafael Police Department.

The Marin County Sheriff’s Office and personnel of the Coroner Division offers our sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Nunez-Sanchez.
