Rodeo Beach Fatality Recovery Identity Released

The remains of an adult male were recovered from the surf line near Rodeo beach and the identification has been confirmed as 40-year-old Daniel Lon Dafoe.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 

At about 1154 hours today, the Coroner Division of the Marin County Sheriff’s Office was notified by the National Park Service that the remains of a deceased adult male were recovered from the surf line near Rodeo beach. The initial 911 call was received at about 1125 hours. Investigators with the Coroner Division took custody of the remains and have confirmed identification of the subject as Daniel Lon Dafoe via fingerprint comparison. Mr. Dafoe is a 40-year-old male resident of San Rafael.

The cause and manner of death are under active investigation. A forensic autopsy is scheduled for early next week. A final cause and manner of death will be pended for results of the autopsy and toxicology testing, as well as the conclusion of the National Park Service’s investigation.
