San Rafael Yacht Harbor Marina Fatality - Identity Released

The decedent has been positively identified as:

Floyd Lee PARMENTER JR., a 61-year-old male with no fixed residence staying in San Rafael, CA.

On Monday July 27, 2020, at approximately 11:45 AM, it was reported to 9-1-1 by witnesses a body was discovered floating within the Canal waterway near the San Rafael Yacht Harbor.  First Responders were immediately dispatched to the scene and located a male subject with physiologic signs of death; no resuscitative aid was warranted and death was declared.  Due to the subject’s physical condition from prolonged exposure to the aquatic environment, positive identification confirmation of the subject was delayed and required extensive investigation.   Upon positively identifying the subject, a prolonged search for next of kin was then completed and a family member was eventually located residing out of State.

The subject’s identity was withheld by the Coroner Division pending the completion of making positive identification as he had no ID upon his person at the time of the incident, in addition to the completion of locating and contacting the appropriate next of kin to notify them of the subject’s passing.

The decedent has been positively identified as:

Floyd Lee PARMENTER JR., a 61-year-old male with no fixed residence staying in San Rafael, CA.

A forensic post mortem examination and toxicology testing was completed on Thursday July 30, 2020.  The cause and manner of death will be pending the conclusion of the investigation being completed by the San Rafael Police Department and the Marin County Sheriff’s Office - Coroner Division.  No further information will be released by the Coroner Division at this time, as this is an active and ongoing investigation.  Any further questions regarding the incident should be directed to the San Rafael Police Department.

The Marin County Sheriff’s Office and personnel of the Coroner Division offers our sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Parmenter Jr.
