West Marin Motorcycle Fatality Collision- Identity Released

The decedent has been positively identified as:                                                                             

Marcos Antonio LOPEZ, a 38-year-old male  from Katy, Texas.

On Saturday April 09, 2022, at approximately 10:47 AM, a solo motorcycle collision was reported to have occurred on Point Reyes Petaluma Road, Chileno Valley in West Marin, which transitions into the 6500 block of Red Hill Road, Petaluma.  Reportedly the subject was travelling westbound on the roadway operating a motorcycle and experienced a mechanical defect.  Ultimately this caused him to lose control of the vehicle resulting in him being ejected from the motorcycle to the surrounding ground and vegetation.  The subject was located by witnesses unconscious and unresponsive in cardiopulmonary arrest. Bystander CPR and medical aid was provided until the arrival of first responders at the scene. Paramedics provided emergent advanced resuscitative aid on the scene, and regrettably the subject failed to respond to the treatment provided.  His death was pronounced on the scene.

A forensic postmortem examination with toxicology testing is being completed Tuesday April 12, 2022.  The cause and manner of death will be pending the conclusion of the investigations being completed by the California Highway Patrol – Marin Division and the Marin County Sheriff’s Office - Coroner Division.  No further information will be released by the Coroner Division at this time, as this is an active and ongoing investigation.  Any further questions regarding the incident should be directed to the California Highway Patrol – Marin Division.
