Worker Struck by Falling Tree Killed in Mill Valley - Identity Released

The decedent has been positively identified as:

Edgar Martin RAMOS MARTINEZ, a 37-year-old male native of Guatemala residing in San Rafael, CA.

On Monday, January 28, 2020 at approximately 11:24 AM, it was reported to 9-1-1 an employee of a contracted tree service working on behalf of a homeowners association, was working on a job site completing tree removal services in between Blue Jay Way and Chamberlain Court in Mill Valley, and was struck by a falling tree, sustaining traumatic injuries to his head and body.  As a result of the incident the subject was instantly rendered unconscious and unresponsive.  Emergency Services were immediately dispatched to the scene, and discovered the subject in cardiopulmonary arrest upon their arrival with significant traumatic lethal injuries.  Sadly, the subject succumbed to his injuries and his death was pronounced on the scene by paramedics.

The decedent has been positively identified as:

Edgar Martin RAMOS MARTINEZ, a 37-year-old male native of Guatemala residing in San Rafael, CA.

A forensic post mortem examination and toxicology testing have been scheduled for later this week.  The cause and manner of death will be pending the conclusion of the investigation being completed by the Marin County Sheriff’s Office, Marin County Sheriff’s Office–Coroner Division and CAL-OSHA.  No further information will be released by the Coroner Division at this time, as this is an active and ongoing investigation.  Any further questions regarding the incident should be directed to the Marin County Sheriff’s Office and CAL-OSHA.
