Identities of Sir Francis Drake Automobile Crash Fatalities Released

At approximately 0009 hours, October 18, 2016, a 911 call was received from a passerby of an unwitnessed automobile collision, which occurred on Sir Francis Drake Blvd., west of Samuel P. Taylor State Park.  A westbound 2013 Toyota Corolla struck a utility pole along the south side of the road and came to rest against a tree along the south side of the road.  Three unresponsive adult male occupants, all seat belted, were found inside the vehicle.  Paramedics responded to the scene and immediately determined the death of all three men on scene.

Due to the severity of the wreckage, extrication of the occupants from the vehicle took an extended period of time.  Investigators with the Coroner Division of the Marin County Sheriff’s Office have positively identified all occupants by fingerprint comparison to CA DMV records.  The occupants have been identified as follows:

  1. Chance Pierre MAURER, an 18-year-old resident of Novato (Driver)
  2. Lancelot Mattaeus ARGALL, an 18-year-old resident of San Anselmo  (Passenger)
  3. Chancellor Grier ARGALL, a 20-year-old resident of Woodacre (Passenger)

*Lancelot and Chancellor ARGALL are confirmed to be brothers

Post mortem examinations and toxicology exams have been scheduled for later this week.  The cause and manner of death will be pending toxicology results and the conclusion of the CA Highway Patrol investigation.  No further information will be released by the Coroner Division at this time.  Any further questions regarding the crash should be directed to the PIO with the Marin Area CHP, Officer Andrew Barclay (415) 407-3924
