Identity of Bolinas plane collision released

The decedent from the Bolinas plane collision has been identified as: John Rowland WILSON, a 58-year-old male resident of Houston, TX.

On September 8, 2017, the Coroner Division of the Marin County Sheriff’s Office was requested to respond to a pending investigation involving a solo plane collision, which occurred on a steep hillside of the Point Reyes National Seashore in the area of Bolinas, CA. One person was known to be the pilot and sole occupant of the plane.   

The decedent has been identified as follows:

     John Rowland WILSON, a 58-year-old male resident of Houston, TX.

The Coroner Division of the Marin County Sheriff’s Office and the National Park Service, along with the Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board, have joined to investigate this collision.

A post mortem examination and toxicology testing have been scheduled. No further information will be released by the Coroner Division at this time, as this is an active investigation. Any further questions regarding the incident should be directed to the National Park Service.

The Marin County Sheriff’s Office and personnel of the Coroner Division offers our condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Wilson.
