Novato Highway 101 Traffic Collison Fatality- Identity Released

The decedent has been positively identified as:                                           

Ali Safar NAVADEH, a 79-year-old male from Novato, CA.

On Friday December 08, 2023, at approximately 5:08 PM a motor vehicle collision was reported to 9-1-1, having occurred on southbound State Highway 101 north of Marinwood near Alameda del Prado in Novato. Reportedly the subject was inside his disabled vehicle parked along the right-side highway shoulder awaiting assistance when another vehicle travelling southbound on State Highway 101at highway speeds for reasons unknown and under investigation lost control, veered across the travel lanes and struck the subject’s disabled vehicle causing catastrophic damage to both vehicles. Emergency Services were immediately dispatched to the scene and arrived a short time later to discover the subject in cardiopulmonary arrest with bystander medical aid being provided including CPR.  Paramedics noted physiologic signs of death and declared the subject deceased on the scene.

A forensic postmortem examination with toxicology testing is being completed later this week.  The cause and manner of death will be pending the conclusion of the investigations being completed by the California Highway Patrol – Marin Division and the Marin County Sheriff’s Office - Coroner Division.  No further information will be released by the Coroner Division at this time, as this is an active and ongoing investigation.  Any further questions regarding the incident should be directed to the California Highway Patrol – Marin Division.
