Stolen Porsche and fraud evidence recovered through arrest made in Oakland

On October 25, 2023, the Marin County Specialized Investigative Unit (SIU), with the assistance of the Marin County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division, the California Highway Patrol Northern Foreign Export and Recovery (NoFEAR) Team, and the Oakland Police Department Street Team arrested Jeffry Rivas Gomez, 22, in Oakland after an extensive, months long investigation.

During an investigation spanning several months, SIU and MCSO Detectives became aware of a subject driving a Porsche convertible and committing a multitude of crimes throughout Marin County, including vehicle burglary, credit card fraud, and vehicle theft. The Porsche led law enforcement on several vehicle pursuits in the County to escape capture.

The Porsche was eventually identified as a stolen vehicle and was being kept at a residence in Oakland. On Oct 25th, Detectives observed Rivas Gomez enter the stolen Porsche and begin driving it throughout Oakland. The Oakland Police Department Street Team and CHP NoFEAR Team assisted SIU Detectives in safely detaining Rivas Gomez. A search warrant was served at his residence and evidence of other stolen vehicles and stolen property were located. Additionally, Rivas Gomez was determined to have an outstanding no-bail warrant out of Marin County for possessing a concealed firearm in public. Rivas Gomez was booked into the Marin County Jail for his outstanding warrant and five additional felonies relating to vehicle theft and credit card fraud.
