Two for one special- Narcotics seized in arrest by Marin County SIU

Over the last several weeks, a detective assigned to the Specialized Investigative Unit developed a relationship with a suspected fentanyl and methamphetamine dealer named Christopher Isaac Ramos-Banegas out of Oakland, Ca.  During the course of the investigation, an undercover officer arranged to meet with Ramos-Banegas and purchase 6 ounces of crystal methamphetamine from him for $1,000.

On 11/8/23, Ramos-Banegas and his girlfriend,  Ingrid Adrianna Vasquez, arrived at a San Rafael shopping center parking lot in Vasquez vehicle in order to meet with the undercover detective.  After a short meeting with the undercover detective, an arrest team made contact with both suspects.  Ramos-Banegas was taken into custody while conducting the transaction with the detective.  Vasquez was still in the passenger seat of her car when the arrest team contacted her.  She was initially uncooperative with the detectives, would not follow lawful commands, and attempted to start her vehicle in an apparent attempt to flee the scene.  She was unsuccessful and was safely arrested.  Both suspects were armed with knives at the time of their arrests.  In total, approximately six ounces of crystal methamphetamine were recovered at the scene with an approximate street value of $3,500.

During a post-arrest interview, Ramos-Banegas admitted that selling drugs was his only source of income.  Vasquez and Ramos-Banegas were booked at the Marin County Jail for felony violations of 11378 HS (possession of controlled substances for the purposes of sales), 11379 HS (transportation of controlled substances) and 182 PC (conspiracy to commit a crime).  Each of their bail was set at $30,000.

The Specialized Investigative Unit is a multi-agency team that focuses on narcotic enforcement as well as other major crimes that affect the quality of life in Marin County.
