7-11 Robbery and Carjacking

The two suspects are still outstanding as Detectives continue to investigate the incident.

On August 23, 2022, around 0118 in the morning, our 911 Communications Center received a 911 call from the 7-11 located at 292 North San Pedro in San Rafael stating a Robbery just occurred and a vehicle was stolen.

Deputies arrived on scene and determined two suspects entered the store and demanded cash from the store clerk. While the clerk was gathering the cash from the drawer, the suspect demanded the car keys from a customer within the store. The customer saw both suspects appeared to be armed with unknown type handguns.

The customer, fearful for his three children in his vehicle, refused to provide his keys to the suspect and the suspect forcefully took them. As the cash was provided to one of the suspects, the customer pleaded with the suspect not to take his vehicle because his kids were inside. The suspects gave the customer back his keys as they fled the store.

Once outside, the suspects confronted an additional customer who had just arrived in their vehicle. The suspects demanded the keys to her vehicle and then forcefully took the keys from the second customer. The suspects also forced a passenger in the vehicle from the car. The suspects left the area in the victim’s vehicle and were last reported to be seen driving toward China Camp State Park.

Deputies searched the area and located the victim’s vehicle parked in the 800 block of Vendola Drive, which is located near the levee system in Santa Venetia. Deputies searched the area and were ultimately unable to locate the two suspects.

The investigation into this incident is ongoing and no suspects have been arrested. We are asking that anyone who lives in the area of 7-11 or the 800 block of Vendola Drive to check their video surveillance systems prior to and after the Robbery and Carjacking.

Anyone with any information is encouraged to contact the Marin County Sheriff’s Office at (415) 473-7265.
