Summary of Incident:
Patrol was dispatched to a subject with an active arrest warrant inside of a residence in Novato. When Deputies arrived on scene, the subject had locked himself inside a bathroom and was refusing to come out. Through speaking with the subject, Deputies learned that he possessed some type of weapon inside the bathroom. Through negotiations, the Deputies were able to get the subject to partially open the door. The subject would not come fully out of the bathroom, or show Deputies his hands. A Deputy attempted to grab the arm of the subject, to forcibly remove him from the bathroom. Fearing the subject may possess a weapon, another Deputy on scene un-holstered her Taser and pointed it towards the subject. The Deputy gave commands that if he didn’t show his hands, or exit the bathroom, that he was going to get tased. The subject saw the taser pointed at him, and began to comply with Deputies commands. The subject was taken into custody without further incident.

Summary of Incident:
Patrol was dispatched to a subject displaying bizarre behavior and pounding her fists into the hood of a vehicle. Deputies arrived on scene and contacted a female who was experiencing a psychotic episode. They eventually determined that she met the criteria of 5150 W&I and attempted to take her into custody. The subject was uncooperative with Deputies orders and would not do what they were instructing her to do. One Deputy removed his CEW (taser), did not turn it on, put pointed it at the subject and gave commands. The CEW had the desired effect, and the subject began to comply with commands. The subject was taken into custody without further incident.

Summary of Incident:
Patrol Deputies were dispatched to a subject who was acting bizarre and loitering on private property. When the reporting party asked the subject to leave, an argument ensued. Deputies arrived on scene and attempted to speak to the subject. He made it obvious he did not wish to speak to them and attempted to run away. A Deputy gave chase ordering the subject to stop. The Deputy removed his Taser, and pointed it at the subject, ordering him to stop. The Taser had its desired effect, and the subject stopped running and was eventually detained.

Summary of Incident:
A suspect stole a wallet from an unlocked vehicle in Sausalito PD’s jurisdiction. A Sheriff’s Sergeant spotted the vehicle turning into Marin City. Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, but the vehicle refused to pull over. The suspect led Deputies on an approximately 10 minute long vehicle pursuit through the streets of Marin City. Eventually the suspect yielded, and the sole occupant of the vehicle was order out at gunpoint. One Deputy on scene removed his Taser, and pointed it at the suspect, providing non-lethal cover. The suspect complied with Deputy’s orders, and was taken into custody without incident.

Summary of Incident:
Patrol Deputies located a vehicle involved in a strong arm robbery that had occurred in the City of Sausalito. The vehicle was occupied by one male adult. Deputies ordered the suspect out at gunpoint. While Deputies were attempting to take the suspect into custody, he continuously lowered his hands to his waistband area. One Deputy told him to keep his hands above his head five separate times. Each time, the suspect lowered his hands to his waistband. Due to the circumstances surrounding the crime, and the possibility that the suspect may be attempting to reach for a weapon, the final time the suspect lowered his hands, the Deputy fired one cartridge at the suspect. The cartridge appeared to have the desired effect and the suspect fell to the ground. The suspect then complied with Deputies orders, and was taken into custody without further incident.

Summary of Incident:
A Patrol Deputy initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle that was called in to be suspicious. The person driving the vehicle did not stop and yield, and continued to drive to his residence. Once at the residence, the suspect exited his car and refused to comply with commands. A Deputy removed his CEW from his holster and held at his side, pointing it at the ground. The mere presence of the Taser removed from the Deputy’s holster, caused the suspect to comply with commands, and he was safely taken into custody.

Summary of Incident:
Patrol Deputies responded to a report of a man who had been beaten by another man with a golf club. The victim had to be transported to the hospital due to head injuries. The suspect was reported to be high on methamphetamine and barricaded himself inside a trailer. The suspect refused to exit the trailer and was eventually forcibly removed from the inside the trailer. The suspect was physically resistive the entire time and kicked Deputies on numerous occasions. Deputies attempted to subdue the suspect with the use of a CEW four separate times, but due to space constraints and the level of his methamphetamine intoxication, the CEW was ineffective. The suspect was eventually taken into custody by other means.

Summary of Incident:
Deputies responded to a residence where a subject had overdosed on heroin. The subject was reported to be unconscious and unresponsive. While en route, the subject regained consciousness and was now acting angry and uncooperative. The subject had locked family members out of the residence. When Deputies arrived, the subject was uncooperative and would not step down from an elevated position inside the house. One Deputy on scene removed his Taser and pointed it at the ground. After seeing that the Taser has been removed from the Deputy’s holster, the subject began to comply with Deputy’s commands.
