Arrest - Possession of suspected Child Pornography

Arrested: Nicholas Cory Richars, Age 32, Sausalito, CA

In October 2019, the Marin County Sheriff’s Office was notified by the San Francisco Police Department’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit about a tip that there was a possible suspect soliciting and receiving nude photographs from minors via an online chat group.  The activity was believed to be originating from a residence in the City of Sausalito, Ca.

Detectives surveilled the suspect and identified an address on Glen Court in Sausalito where the suspect was living.  They also discovered another address on East Strawberry Drive in unincorporated Mill Valley where the suspect was recently staying.  This morning detectives served search warrants at both residences and arrested Nicholas Cory Richars, Age 32 Sausalito, CA.    A preliminary investigation into his personal electronic devices revealed material depicting obscene images of a minor.

The evidence seized in this case will undergo additional forensic examination.  There is no indication that any of the images are victims from Marin County.
