Bicyclist Fatally Struck by a Vehicle in West Marin Identified

The decedent has been identified as:   

Debra Louise DIBENEDETTO, a 63-year-old female from San Geronimo, CA.

On Monday, October 29, 2018 at approximately 5:35 P.M., 9-1-1 was contacted reporting a bicyclist riding westbound on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard west of Railroad Avenue in Woodacre was struck by a passing westbound sport utility vehicle, which reportedly veered onto the roadway shoulder.  The subject was ejected from her bicycle and came to rest in a ditch beside the roadway shoulder.  First Responders were immediately dispatched to the reported location, arrived on the scene shortly after and discovered the subject with grave traumatic injuries.   Paramedics emergently transported the subject from the scene to Marin General Hospital while providing resuscitative medical aid.  Despite the extensive medical aid efforts provided by first responders and the hospital staff, the subject continued to decline and her death was pronounced in the Emergency Department at 6:25 P.M.

The decedent has been identified as:   

Debra Louise DIBENEDETTO, a 63-year-old female from San Geronimo, CA.

A forensic post mortem examination and toxicology testing have been scheduled for later this week.  The cause and manner of death will be pending the conclusion of the investigation being completed by the California Highway Patrol and this office.  No further information will be released by the Coroner Division at this time, as this is an active and ongoing investigation.  Any further questions regarding the incident should be directed to the California Highway Patrol, Marin Office.

The Marin County Sheriff’s Office and personnel of the Coroner Division offers our condolences to the family and friends of Ms. Dibenedetto.
