7/4/15 - Type of deployment: drew taser and pointed it at suspect

Deputies working at the Marin County Fair were asked to assist in removing three subjects who stated that they did not need to pay to enter the Fair. The three subjects were believed to be involved in a physical altercation earlier in the day, and stated that they were armed. When contacted, one subject became uncooperative and did not follow Deputies commands. When Deputies attempted to physically remove the subject from the fair, an altercation ensued. During the struggle, one Deputy received scratches above his eye. Another Deputy removed his Taser from its holster, and placed it in the small of the subject’s back. The Deputy did not turn the Taser on or fire a cartridge at the subject. Once informed that the Taser was placed in the small of his back, the suspect complied and was taken into custody without further incident.

Patrol Deputies were dispatched to the report of a subject at a residence who was violating the terms of a valid restraining order. The order stated that the subject was not allowed to be on the property, or contact its residents. Upon arrival, the restrained subject began to walk away from Deputies. Deputies ordered the subject to stop. The subject then began to run away from Deputies. Ordering the subject to stop, Deputies ran after the subject. While running after the subject, one Deputy removed his Taser and pointed it at the subject ordering him to stop. The Deputy did not turn the Taser on, or fire a cartridge at the subject. The subject then complied with Deputy’s commands, and was taken into custody without further incident.
