Corte Madera Motor Vehicle Collision - Fatality Information

The decedent has been positively identified as:

A 17-year-old male from Marin City, CA.

On Monday, June, 10, 2019 at approximately 02:19 A.M., a solo vehicle collision was reported to 9-1-1 having occurred on southbound Highway 101, south of Lucky Drive near the Tamalpais Drive overpass in Corte Madera.  Reportedly for unknown reasons, which remain under investigation, a vehicle operated and solely occupied by the subject left the roadway, struck a tree within a grassy area beside the highway shoulder, rolled over and caught fire. The subject was unable to exit the vehicle and perished as a result of the collision and resultant vehicle fire.

The decedent has been positively identified as:

A 17-year-old male from Marin City, CA.

A forensic post mortem examination and toxicology testing have been completed today.  The cause and manner of death will be pending the conclusion of the investigation being completed by the California Highway Patrol - Marin Office and the Marin County Sheriff’s Office - Coroner Division.  No further information will be released by the Coroner Division at this time, as this is an active and ongoing investigation.  Any further questions regarding the incident should be directed to the California Highway Patrol - Marin Office.

Due to the injuries the subject incurred as a result of the collision, confirmation of his identity required scientific and comparative analysis completed by Forensic Odontologists, which was completed last evening.  Upon extensive investigation completed by the Coroner Division personnel, the subject’s identity was positively confirmed. 

Due to the subject being a minor and out of respect to his family, his name is being withheld and will not be published by the Marin County Sheriff’s Office – Coroner Division.
