Identity of San Rafael Pedestrian Death Released

An adult female, identified as Tatyana Zaslavsky, was struck by a dump truck as she walked in the crosswalk on Third St., at the Hetherton St. intersection.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

On June 9, 2016, the Coroner Division of the Marin County Sheriff’s Office assisted the San Rafael Police Department with a death investigation at the intersection of Third St. and Hetherton St. in downtown San Rafael. An adult female, identified as Tatyana Zaslavsky (77-year-old resident of San Rafael, CA) was struck by a dump truck as she walked westbound in the southern crosswalk on Third St., at the Hetherton St. intersection. 911 calls were received by San Rafael Fire Department’s dispatch center at approximately 1313 hours. Paramedics pronounced Tatyana Zaslavsky’s death on scene at 1322 hours.

The Cause and Manner death will be pending the results of an autopsy and subsequent toxicology, which is scheduled for June 10, 2016. Results of toxicology tests will take several weeks. The manner of death will also be pending the outcome of the San Rafael Police Department’s investigation into the cause of this incident. No further information regarding this investigation will be released by the Coroner Division at this time, as this in an active investigation.
