Marin City Homicide - Seeking Witnesses

Homicide Victim Identified as Mr. Randy Ray Belanger, an 18-year-old male from San Anselmo, CA.

On March 3rd, 2022 around 3:49 in the afternoon, our 911 communications center received multiple calls of a gunshot being heard in the 400 block of Drake Avenue. Witnesses also reported seeing a subject on the ground in the area where the gunshot was heard.

The first Deputy arrived approximately two minutes later and located an unresponsive male near a vehicle. Despite life saving efforts by first responders, the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The decedent has been positively identified as Mr. Randy Ray Belanger, an 18-year-old male from San Anselmo, CA.

A forensic post mortem examination with toxicology testing is scheduled for next week.  The cause and manner of death will be pending the conclusion of the investigations being completed by the Marin County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division and the Marin County Sheriff’s Office - Coroner Division.  No further information will be released by the Coroner Division at this time, as this is an active and ongoing investigation.  Any further questions regarding the incident should be directed to the Marin County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division.

Detectives are continuing their investigation to identify the shooter(s). They are actively following up on leads, reviewing video and photo evidence and contacting additional witnesses. No additional details will be released at this time while we actively investigate the homicide.
