Memorial Day Weekend Homicide in Marin City

Homicide Victim Identified as Mr. Bradley Charles VanDyke, a 63-year-old male with no fixed residence, previously from Marin City, CA.

On May 30th, 2021 around 5:38 in the evening, our 911 communications center received multiple calls of gunshots being heard in the 200 block of Drake Avenue in Marin City. Witnesses reported there was a subject laying on the ground in the area the gunshots were heard. 

The first Deputies arrived approximately two minutes later and located two victims suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Multiple shell casings were located at the scene. Both victims were transported to a local hospital where victim 1 was treated and is expected to survive. The second victim was pronounced deceased at a local hospital. 

The decedent has been positively identified as Mr. Bradley Charles VanDyke, a 63-year-old male with no fixed residence, previously from Marin City, CA.

A forensic post mortem examination with toxicology testing is scheduled for later this week.  The cause and manner of death will be pending the conclusion of the investigations being completed by the Marin County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division and the Marin County Sheriff’s Office - Coroner Division.  No further information will be released by the Coroner Division at this time, as this is an active and ongoing investigation.  Any further questions regarding the incident should be directed to the Marin County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division.

Detectives are continuing their investigation to identify the shooter(s). They are actively following up on leads, reviewing video and photo evidence and contacting additional witnesses. Detective Zebb asks that anyone with any information contact him at j_zebb@marinsheriff.org.

No additional details will be released at this time while we actively investigate the homicide.
