Novato Pedestrian Struck by a Vehicle - Identity Released

The decedent has been positively identified as:

Bev HOBIE, a 70-year-old female from Novato, CA 

On Friday evening, January 18, 2019, at approximately 6:07 PM, Ms. Hobie was reportedly struck by a passing vehicle while attempting to cross South Novato Boulevard in Novato.  Upon preliminary investigation, Ms. Hobie was determined not to be in a marked crosswalk at the time of the incident.  Paramedics were summoned to the scene and tragically discovered Ms. Hobie unresponsive beneath a vehicle, with multiple traumatic injuries, requiring extrication.  Ms. Hobie was rescued by first responders and despite being provided with resuscitative aid, she failed to respond to treatment and her death was pronounced on the scene.

The decedent has been positively identified as:        

Bev HOBIE, a 70-year-old female from Novato, CA 

A forensic post mortem examination and toxicology testing have been scheduled for later this  week.  The cause and manner of death will be pending the conclusion of the investigation being completed by the Novato Police Department and the Marin County Sheriff’s Office-Coroner Division.  No further information will be released by the Coroner Division at this time, as this is an active and ongoing investigation.  Any further questions regarding the incident should be directed to the Novato Police Department.

The Marin County Sheriff’s Office and personnel of the Coroner Division offers our best wishes and condolences to the family and friends of Ms. Hobie.
