On January 4th, 2025, at approximately 9:08 am, Central Marin Police Authority received a report of an unconscious male inside a vehicle on Sunnyside Ave in Corte Madera. Central Marin Police Authority Officers, as well as emergency medical personnel, pronounced a 22-year-old male deceased in his vehicle.

A Marin County Coroner Investigator was called to the scene and determined the death was a suspected opioid overdose. Based on this the Marin County Sheriff’s Office, Specialized Investigations Unit (SIU), was requested to assist in the investigation. Marin County SIU Detectives receive specialized training in how to investigate potential overdose homicides and are the primary investigative resource in the County.

Through a thorough and comprehensive investigation, SIU Detectives developed probable cause to arrest two suspects, Raul Beltran (25-year-old male), and Olivia Peters (22-year-old female) who both reside in Corte Madera. Both Beltran and Peters were charged with voluntary manslaughter, as well as furnishing a controlled substance resulting in great bodily injury (GBI) of the victim.

Both Beltran and Peters were booked into the Marin County Jail. Bail was set at $100,000 for each of them.
