UPDATE- Plane Crash in the Marin Headlands Kills Two - Identities Released

The decedent’s have been positively identified as:                                      

Michael B. BRIARE, a 57-year-old male  from Sacramento, CA.

Jennifer Lyn FOX, a 52-year-old female from Sacramento, CA.

On Friday May 06, 2022, at approximately 12:09 PM a fixed wing single engine Vans RV-10 personal aircraft crashed into the hillside of the Marin Headlands near Slackers Hill located northwest of the Golden Gate Bridge. Reportedly the airplanes emergency beacon was activated at approximately 12:11 PM.  Multiple First Responder agencies were dispatched to complete a search for the aircraft in the area where the emergency beacon had been activated.  At approximately 2:00 PM the downed aircraft was located on a steep hillside / ridge north of Conzelman Road away from the roadway and / or trails.  Two people were located within the wreckage and declared deceased at the scene.  Locating the aircraft was hampered by heavy fog and condensation, which obscured visibility in the area.

Jennifer Lyn FOX, a 52-year-old female from Sacramento, CA.

A forensic postmortem examination with toxicology will be completed early next week.  The cause and manner of death will be pending the conclusion of the investigations being completed by the National Park Service Golden Gate Recreation Area (NPS), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), and the Marin County Sheriff’s Office - Coroner Division.  No further information will be released by the Coroner Division at this time, as this is an active and ongoing investigation.  Any further questions regarding the incident should be directed to the NPS Golden Gate Recreation Area, FAA, or NTSB.
