Rodeo Beach - Marin Headlands Fisherman Fatality - Identity Released
The decedent has been positively identified as:
Ho Yu WONG, a 78-year-old male from Oakland, CA.
On Tuesday March 25, 2025, at approximately 3:30 PM it was reported to 9-1-1 a subject, who reportedly had been fishing for mussels on the shoreline of Rodeo Beach within the Marin Headlands fell into the surf and was briefly pulled out into the waters. He was rescued from the waters by nearby bystanders / surfers, who witnessed the event, pulled to shore but was determined to be unconscious and unresponsive. Bystander first aid was provided until first responders arrived and continued resuscitative efforts to revive the unresponsive subject determined to be in cardiac arrest. Sadly, he did not respond to the provided medical treatment and his death was pronounced on the scene at 4:19 PM. The decedent has been positively identified as:

A forensic postmortem examination with toxicology testing will be completed later this week. The cause and manner of death will be pending the conclusion of the investigations being completed by the National Park Service - US Park Police and the Marin County Sheriff’s Office - Coroner Division. No further information will be released by the Coroner Division at this time, as this is an active and ongoing investigation.
