During the scene investigation, no overt signs of traumatic injury or untoward-suspicious circumstances were noted by investigators. During the subject’s examination, post mortem COVID-19 testing was completed. The subject was determined to be positive for COVID-19. It was noted that the subject was diagnosed with COVID-19 in June at SQSP and reportedly recovered prior to his release.  At the time of this writing, the cause of death remains pending investigation and the receipt of additional toxicology testing.

The decedent has been positively identified as:

A forensic post mortem examination and toxicology testing was completed on Wednesday August 12, 2020.  The cause and manner of death will be pending the conclusion of the investigation being completed by the Novato Police Department and the Marin County Sheriff’s Office - Coroner Division.  No further information will be released by the Coroner Division at this time, as this is an active and ongoing investigation.  Any further questions regarding the incident should be directed to the Novato Police Department.
