On Tuesday morning May 18, 2021, at approximately 08:05 AM it was reported to 9-1-1- a pedestrian was struck by a commercial vehicle at the intersection of Fourth Street and  G Street in downtown San Rafael.  During the preliminary scene investigation, it was learned the subject was a pedestrian located on the southeast corner of Fourth Street attempting to cross G Street to the westbound side.  A commercial vehicle travelling north on G Street stopped for a fixed traffic control device at the southeast corner of the crossing prior to proceeding through the intersection, across Fourth Street.  The driver reportedly did not see the pedestrian and she was stuck by the commercial vehicle resulting in her becoming unconscious and unresponsive.  9-1-1 was phoned and First Responders immediately summoned to the scene to provide medical aid.  Paramedics arrived on the scene shortly after and discovered the subject to be in cardiopulmonary arrest.  Resuscitative aid was provided on the scene and despite these efforts, the subject failed to respond and her death was pronounced on the scene.  The vehicle driver remained on the scene and was cooperative with the ensuing investigation.
