San Rafael Construction Employee Fatality Identified

The decedent has been identified as:

San Juan LANDAVERDE-OLVERA, 59-year-old male resident of San Rafael.

On Monday, September 18, 2018 at approximately 08:55 AM, it was reported to 9-1-1 a construction employee working on a residential housing construction job site became injured during a workplace incident. Reportedly the subject was seated atop piled lumber planks on the job site, which leaned against vertically stored plywood boards beside him. The aforementioned plywood boards shifted and fell atop the subject. First Responders were immediately summoned to the scene and discovered the subject unresponsive and lifeless in cardiopulmonary arrest with signs of traumatic injuries. Paramedics provided resuscitative medical aid to to no avail and pronounced the subject deceased on the scene. 

The decedent has been identified as:

San Juan LANDAVERDE-OLVERA, 59-year-old male resident of San Rafael.

A forensic post mortem examination with toxicology testing have been scheduled to be conducted later this week.  The cause and manner of death will be pending toxicology results and the conclusion of the investigation being completed by the San Rafael Police Department and the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health.  No further information will be released by the Coroner Division at this time, as this is an active and ongoing investigation.  Any further questions regarding the incident should be directed to the San Rafael Police Department and the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health. 

The Marin County Sheriff’s Office and personnel of the Coroner Division offers our condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Landaverde-Olvera.
