San Rafael Highway 580 to Highway 101 Pedestrian Collision Fatality Identification Released

The decedent has been identified as:

Ellen Alexandra SCOTT, 46-year-old resident of San Rafael

On Sunday, April 01, 2018, at approximately 06:01 AM, First Responders were dispatched to the westbound highway 580 transition ramp to northbound Highway 101 for the report of a pedestrian, who allegedly was struck by a vehicle and was located down in the travel lanes of the highway.  First Responders arrived on the scene shortly after and discovered a female victim in the travel portion of the roadway, unresponsive and unconscious.  Evidence at the scene was suggestive of the subject having been struck by a passing vehicle, which failed to remain at the scene and render medical aid.  Unfortunately as a result of the collision, the subject suffered extensive traumatic injuries and her death was pronounced on the scene by paramedics.

The decedent has been identified as:

Ellen Alexandra SCOTT, 46-year-old resident of San Rafael

A forensic post mortem examination and toxicology testing have been scheduled for later this week.  The cause and manner of death will be pending toxicology results and the conclusion of the investigation by California Highway Patrol, Marin Office.  No further information will be released by the Coroner Division at this time, as this is an active and ongoing investigation.  Any further questions regarding the incident should be directed to the California Highway Patrol, Marin Office / PIO Andrew Barclay.

The Marin County Sheriff’s Office and personnel of the Coroner Division offers our condolences to the family and friends of Ms. Scott.
