San Rafael Roll-Over Motor Vehicle Collision Fatality – Identity Released

The decedent has been positively identified as:

Daejon Tyree CROWDER, a 27-year-old male from Olivehurst, CA.

On Saturday, July 21, 2019 at approximately 03:43 A.M., a solo vehicle collision was reported to 9-1-1 having occurred on northbound Highway 101, north of Smith Ranch Road in San Rafael.  Reportedly for unknown reasons which remain under investigation, a vehicle operated by the decedent at highway speeds and occupied buy another party, left the roadway, traveled up an embankment, struck a light pole and rolled over; ejecting both persons from the vehicle, who were unrestrained onto the roadway.  First Responders arrived on the scene shortly after and rendered first aid to both occupants of the vehicle.  Sadly, Mr. Crowder suffered extensive traumatic injuries as a result of the collision and his death was pronounced on the scene.  The passenger was transported by paramedics to an area hospital for treatment of significant injuries she sustained in the collision.

A forensic post mortem examination and toxicology testing have scheduled for later this week.  The cause and manner of death will be pending the conclusion of the investigation being completed by the California Highway Patrol - Marin Office and the Marin County Sheriff’s Office - Coroner Division.  No further information will be released by the Coroner Division at this time, as this is an active and ongoing investigation.  Any further questions regarding the incident should be directed to the California Highway Patrol - Marin Office.
