Sausalito Electric Powered Bicycle / Pedestrian Collision Fatality- Identity Released

The decedent has been positively identified as:                                           

James Charles Gordon, a 63-year-old male from Sausalito, CA

On Wednesday August 31, 2022, at approximately 8:40 PM it was reported to 9-1-1 a collision had occurred on the public pedestrian-bicycle (Mill Valley- Sausalito) Path near Gate 6 Road in Sausalito, approximately ¼ mile away from Mike’s Bikes.  Reportedly a pedestrian walking on the shared access path was struck by the operator of an electric powered bicycle, who was travelling under power at a moderate rate of speed.  The collision resulted in the pedestrian falling to the ground and striking his head, immediately becoming unconscious and unresponsive.  First Responders were summoned to the scene, provided medical aid, and emergently transported the subject to an area hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.  Despite medical treatment and interventions provided over many days with a survival interval in the hospital, the subject failed to improve and prognosis for improvement remained poor.  The subject continued to decline in health and passed on September 06, 2022.   The decedent has been positively identified as:                                           

James Charles Gordon, a 63-year-old male from Sausalito, CA

An investigation into the subject’s death including toxicology testing is in progress.  The cause and manner of death will be pending the conclusion of the investigations being completed by the Marin County Sheriff’s Office – Investigations Division  and the Marin County Sheriff’s Office - Coroner Division.  No further information will be released by the Coroner Division at this time, as this is an active and ongoing investigation.  Any further questions regarding the incident should be directed to the Marin County Sheriff’s Office – Investigations Division. The Marin County Sheriff’s Office and personnel of the Coroner Division offers our sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Gordon.
