Sausalito Traffic Collision Fatality Identified

The decedent has been positively identified as:

Laura Lee PINO, a 72-year-old female from Tiburon, CA

Ms. Pino was the restrained driver of a 2003 Toyota Corolla travelling at highway speeds southbound on Highway 101 north of Spencer Avenue at approximately 0800 hours, when for reasons unknown, she lost control of her vehicle, reportedly hydroplaned and struck the rear end of a parked California Highway Patrol (CHP) vehicle, who was in the #4 lane near the right shoulder investigating another unrelated traffic collision.  At the time of the incident, the CHP patrol vehicle had its overhead emergency lighting activated, and officers were placing flares out to warn drivers of the hazard ahead of them.  The CHP Patrol Vehicle was unoccupied blocking the unrelated collision wreckage.  Reportedly, at the time of the collision the weather was inclement and the roadway was wet. The subject was reportedly travelling in the #2 lane, lost control of her vehicle and spun out, striking the rear of the aforementioned CHP vehicle.
