Strawberry Interrupted Burglary Leads to Three Arrests

Deputies responded to a residence on S. Knoll Road where a gold Audi fled the scene. Three suspects have been identified while a fourth is still outstanding.

On Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at approximately 4:02 PM, Marin County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a vacant residence on S. Knoll Road in Strawberry on a report of subjects in the backyard breaking glass. According to the reporting party there was a gold Audi parked in front of the vacant residence and the reporting party was not familiar with the vehicle. While responding to the call, a Sheriff’s Deputy observed a gold Audi driving towards him. As the gold Audi approached the deputy’s vehicle, the deputy had to steer his vehicle to the right side of the roadway to try and avoid being hit head on by the Audi. The Audi then veered towards the deputy’s patrol car, hitting the driver’s side of the patrol vehicle. The Audi then accelerated away from the deputies patrol vehicle. The deputy radioed other law enforcement units in the area advising them of what just happened. A Tiburon Officer who was at the intersection of Tiburon Blvd at S. Knoll Road observed the Audi approaching him at a high rate of speed. The Audi drove over the raised center island and the Tiburon Officer pursued the Audi westbound on Tiburon Blvd. The Audi turned onto northbound 101 and the Tiburon Officer continued to pursue the Audi. The Audi made numerous unsafe lane changes, while colliding with several other vehicles. The Audi attempted to drive around stopped traffic on Highway 101 and collided with a storm drain causing the right front wheel to be ripped from the vehicle. All four occupants fled from the disabled Audi into the surrounding neighborhood. Three of the four occupants of the Audi were found and arrested for a number of charges including burglary, resisting arrest, evading peace officer, assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer.

The three suspects were identified as:

  • Rashad Preston a 23 year old male from San Francisco. Preston is on probation out of San Francisco.
  • Eric Phillips a 34 year old male from Oakland. Phillips is currently on probation out of Oakland for resisting arrest.
  • Maurice Allen a 31 year old male from Oakland. Allen is currently on state parole for carjacking.

A fourth suspect is still outstanding. The fourth suspect is described as black male adult.

In addition to the listed charges Allen is being held on a no bail parole hold. Both Preston and Phillips had bail enhancements placed on them for $250,000.00.

The Marin County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the incident.
