The Central Marin Police Authority is investigating the in-custody death of an inmate housed at the Marin County Jail.

The Central Marin Police Authority is investigating the in-custody death of an inmate housed at the Marin County Jail.

Around 05:25 on February 22, 2022 a Deputy performing a routine check on inmates within their jail cells found an inmate hanging within their solely occupied cell.

The San Rafael Fire Department was requested to respond to the Jail. Despite all lifesaving measures, the inmate was pronounced deceased at 05:45.

The Sheriff’s Office requested the Central Marin Police Authority respond to handle the investigation into the death of the inmate. The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office Coroners Division responded to handle the Coroner Duties associated with the death.
