Third Quarter 2021 statistics for sUAS Team deployments by the Marin County Sheriff’s Office

07/30/2021 – Mission Type: Assist the San Rafael Police Department with Evidence Documentation Flight for Homicide Investigation

Case: 21-2100

Offense: 187 PC

The San Rafael Police Department requested the assistance of the sUAS Team to provide aerial evidence videos pursuant to a homicide that occurred in their jurisdiction. The sUAS Team responded and took evidentiary video of the crime scene.

 08/24/2021 – Mission Type: Search for Missing Person who left Crisis Facility

Case: SO21-2355

Offense: N/A

A Deputy on duty who is part of the sUAS Team was requested to search the area of a park for a missing person who left from a crisis facility in Sheriff’s Office jurisdiction. The Deputy deployed their UAV and searched the park, but did not locate the subject. The subject was located later in the evening in a different area and returned to the crisis facility. 

09/25/2021 – Mission Type: Assist Mill Valley Police with Evacuation Drill

Offense: N/A

The Mill Valley Police Department requested the assistance of the sUAS Team during an evacuation drill. The sUAS Team was requested to provide live aerial video of the evacuation drill to assist MVPD evaluate traffic tendencies along the evacuation route. The video was provided to the Mill Valley Police Department to use for planning purposes for future evacuations if needed. 

09/27/2021 – Mission Type: Assist the San Rafael Police Department with a Missing Person Search

Offenses: N/A

The San Rafael Police Department requested the assistance of the sUAS Team in the search for a missing person at risk. The sUAS Team was requested to search a large marsh area surrounding the area where the person went missing. A UAV was used to search the area and the missing person was not located. The missing person was located the following day in another city.
