West Marin Hicks Valley Traffic Collision Fatality- Identity Released

The decedent has been positively identified as:                                       

Miles Walter Kintz, a 22-year-old male  from Petaluma, CA.

On Saturday December 10, 2022, at approximately 1:15 PM it was reported to 9-1-1 a motor vehicle collision had occurred on Point Reyes Petaluma Road just north of Hicks Valley Road, in Hicks Valley involving two vehicles.   First Responders were immediately dispatched to the area and upon their arrival at the scene located two vehicles, which had collided. Preliminary investigation suggests the subject, who was driving southbound in a Subaru Impreza, for reasons unknown and remain under investigation, lost control of his vehicle, crossed over the roadway dividing line, and struck a Honda Accord sedan travelling northbound.  Both vehicles sustained significant damage in the collision. At the time of the incident, the roadway was wet from recent rain.  Regrettably the subject, who was the sole occupant of the Subaru was discovered unconscious, unresponsive, and in cardiac arrest within his vehicle post impact. First Responders noted physiologic signs of death, which was pronounced at the scene without resuscitative efforts provided.

Miles Walter Kintz, a 22-year-old male  from Petaluma, CA.

A forensic postmortem examination with toxicology testing is being completed later this week.  The cause and manner of death will be pending the conclusion of the investigations being completed by the California Highway Patrol – Marin Office and the Marin County Sheriff’s Office - Coroner Division.  No further information will be released by the Coroner Division at this time, as this is an active and ongoing investigation.  Any further questions regarding the incident should be directed to the California Highway Patrol – Marin Office.
