Steven Michael CAMPANALI, a 57-year-old male from Penngrove, CA.
On Friday July 12, 2024, at approximately 6:17 PM a vehicle collision with injuries was reported to 9-1-1 having occurred in the 25000 block of Highway 1 / Shoreline Drive South of Snake Road. Reportedly a 2020 Kawasaki Ninja 650 sportbike being operated by the subject had been travelling northbound at a high rate of speed, and for reasons unknown and which remain under investigation, crossed over the double yellow painted dividing lines into the opposing lane, and struck a southbound 2001 GMC 3500 Sierra HD dual axle pickup truck. Upon impact, the operator of the motorcycle was ejected from his bike and sustained significant traumatic injuries as a result of the collision, coming to rest in the roadway unconscious and unresponsive. First Responders arrived on the scene shortly after and located the subject lifeless in cardiopulmonary arrest. His death was pronounced on the scene at 6:30 PM.

A forensic postmortem examination with routine toxicology testing is scheduled for later this week. The cause and manner of death will be pending the conclusion of the investigations being completed by the California Highway Patrol – Marin Office and the Marin County Sheriff’s Office - Coroner Division. No further information will be released by the Coroner Division at this time, as this is an active and ongoing investigation.
